Reading at Home
At Vange Primary School and Nursery we expect that children consolidate their learning at school through the reading of an age appropriate book every night, alongside accessing their class and the school library to choose and take home books for pleasure.
Our expectations:
- All children should read at least 5 times per week.
- All children should practise any phonics work and word recall work that is sent home by the class teacher.
Each class has their own personalised 'Reading Race' in the classroom window. Each time a child reads at home, they are a step closer to the 'Reading Reward' which has been set by the class teacher: this incentive is always discussed and chosen alongside the children.
Below you will find a range of resources to support and help enhance reading at home with your child.
